Nuclear Medicine Research Support
Beaumont's nuclear medicine department offers the latest available technology, including:
multi-faceted 3-D imaging, such as Single Photon Emission Computer Tomography (SPECT)
Positron Emission Tomography (PET) offers a non-invasive evaluation for staging or recurrence.
A combined CT-PET which is demonstrated to be useful in the evaluation of dementia and coronary artery disease.
The department conducts conventional imaging studies to regularly assess the effectiveness of therapies and the extent of disease progression. Breakthrough monoclonal antibody and peptide imaging techniques evaluate and stage various diseases, most notably cancer.
Staff members include nuclear medicine physicians, resident physicians, medical physicists, radio-pharmacists, cyclotron radio-chemists and technologists. The department also has a nationally renowned School of Nuclear Medicine Technology.
