Curriculum for School of Nuclear Medicine Technology
The School of Nuclear Medicine Technology accepts up to ten students into its program annually. Successful applicants will begin training in early September and finish in November of the following year. The program requires attendance five days a week, eight hours a day, plus some Saturdays.
The first eight weeks of the program are primarily classroom instruction. Topics include: physics, radiation biology, math and statistics, chemistry, radiopharmacy, computer processing, anatomy and physiology, patient care and nuclear medicine procedures.
During the clinical rotations, students are instructed on a variety of cameras and computers. They are also trained in the proper techniques of radiopharmaceutical preparation in their radiopharmacy rotation.
In all, students will have approximately 350 hours of classroom instruction and 1,800 hours of clinical experience.
Graduates of the program are eligible to sit for the national registry examinations administered by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) and the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) for Nuclear Medicine.
In the past 10 years, 95% of students enrolled in our nuclear medicine program have graduated. Also, in the past 10 years, we've had a 100% pass-rate from graduates of our program for both of the certification boards, the Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification Board (NMTCB) and the American Registry of Radiologic Tehcnologitsts (ARRT).
